Dear all OSA student chapters,
On behalf of organizers of the conference, I’d like to give my sincere regards to all the members of your chapter.
For promoting development of optics and optoelectronics, strengthening international academic exchanges and cooperation for graduate students, the conference “IONS(International OSA Network of Students) Xi’an 2017” will be held in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, China from April 24 to April 28, 2017. The conference is located at Hilton Garden Inn, and it is expected to have about 200 attendees, 8 distinguished experts and professors, such as prof. Sune Svanberg (Chairman of Nobel Committee for Physics in Royal Academy of Sciences), prof. Katarina Svanberg (Former Chairman of SPIE) and prof.Jannick Rolland (Associate Director of the R.E. Hopkins Center for Optical Design & Engineering, University of Rochester), are invited to give the plenary lectures. Excellent articles will be collected at Acta Photonica Sinica (EI-indexed ) and Acta Optica Sinica (EI-Indexed).
The conference covers the following topics:
 Lasers and Nonlinear Optics
 Nano Photonics and Materials
 Optical Design and Optical Precision Measurement
 Optical Biosensing
 Optical Imaging and display
 Optical Communication and Optical Network Technology
We sincerely invite one student member, as the representative of your chapter, to join our conference. We will provide travelling grants for each student representative, including free-registration, food (3 lunch and 1 dinner) , lodging (a double room for 5 nights), and extra 500 USD for their travelling expenses. But the seats limited, first come, first served. For students from foreign countries, if you failed to get this grant, we will also exempt your registration fee (including food) to save your cost.
With the purpose of sharing experiences of chapter management and promoting communications between different student chapters, we will organize “student chapter management presentations and communications” on April 26 from 7pm to 10pm. Rim Cherif, the director of student chapter in OSA, will participate in this event and give a talk. Each student representative is required to prepare a poster(not exceed 2.5m high and 1m wide) to show their chapter’s development.
