Laboratory introduction

The Photonic Manufacturing System and Applied Research Center( hereinafter referred to as “Photonic Center”) was established in 2010, which is the medium for Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics(hereinafter referred to as “XIOPM”) of Chinese Academy of Sciences(hereinafter referred to as “CAS”) to orient to national strategic needs and main battlefield for the national economy. Focusing on the breakthrough of key technology of photon extreme manufacturing, it also helps to explore and practice new models, new systems and new mechanisms. The technology platform of ultra-fast laser micromachining equipment and applications has been built to combine theoretical research of ultrafast laser processing theory, ultra-fast laser micro-machining technology and equipment research to expand the new field of photon extreme manufacturing technology. The center aims to lead and promote China's ultra-fast laser technology and industrial development, and provide technical support for solving the ultra-fine cold processing of difficult-to-machine materials and components in the aerospace and electronic information fields.The center has formed an efficient conversion mode integrating production, study and research, and further accelerates the transformation and industrialization of extreme photonic manufacturing for achieving the laboratory results of engineering and transition.
In recent years, Photonic Center has undertaken the project of MIIT, National Key Research and Development Project, Hongguang project of CAS and other national, provincial and ministerial projects. The center has breakthroughs in a number of core technologies, including whole technology solutions of key components and key processes that restrict the industrial application of ultra-fast laser extreme manufacturing, it is the first in China to develop a series of ultra-fast laser extreme manufacturing equipment. Micro-machining equipment which reaches the international advanced level in some indicators, and has been widely used in more than 40 units.
The related achievements have applied for more than 150 national patents and won the first prize of Shaanxi Science and Technology, the first prize of science and technology of Shaanxi provincial academy of sciences, the 16th China international industrial exposition award and other provincial and ministerial awards.
