On November 16-19, 2023, the 2nd International Conference on UltrafastX 2023 and the 3rd Youth Forum on Ultrafast Science were successfully held in Xi 'an. This conference was hosted by Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (XIOPM) of Chinese Academy of Sciences , Chinese Optical Society, DESY, and RIKEN, Academician GONG Qihuang of Peking University, China, Prof. Franz X. Kartner of the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron, Germany, and Prof. Katsumi Midorikawa of RIKEN, Japan, served as the General Chairs, and nearly 400 scholars, students and industrialists from 12 countries, including China, the United States, Germany, France, Japan, Russia, Hungary, Switzerland, Israel, South Korea, Canada, Spain, etc., attended the conference.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Researcher FU Yuxi of XIOPM, during which Researcher ZHAO Wei, President of the Xi'an Branch of CAS and Editor-in-Chief of Ultrafast Science, SUN Chuandong, Deputy Director of XIOPM, and ZHAI Tianrui, Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Optical Society and Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology, delivered addresses respectively. After that Academician GU Min from Shanghai Institute of Technology, Prof. X.-C. Zhang from University of Rochester, Prof. Franz X. Kartner from f the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron, Germany, Prof. Rodrigo Lopez-Martens from Laboratoire d’Optique Appliquée, France, and Prof. Paul Corkum from University of Ottawa, Canada, delivered keynote reports respectively.

The conference was focused on six topics for discussion, covering attosecond science and technology, ultrafast lasers and its applications, ultrafast terahertz photonics, ultrafast imaging and spectroscopy, ultrafast phenomenon and dynamics, and ultrafast particle science technology and applications, resulting in a total of 97 expert reports, 12 youth forum reports, 10 student reports, and 60 posted reports. Around the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics, a Roundtable Forum on "Attosecond Science: Past, Present and Future" was held concurrently with the conference and moderated by Prof. Franz X. Kartner, during which ten experts, including Paul Corkum, Péter Dombi, FU Yuxi, Kenichi L. Ishikawa, Kyung Taec Kim, LU Peixiang, Katsumi Midorikawa, WEI Zhiyi, Hans Jakob Worner, and X.-C. Zhang, shared their views on the topics of "The Important Past of the Establishment of the Fundamentals of Attosecond Science, the Present of Attosecond Science and Technology, Future Perspectives, Interdisciplinary and International Collaboration, and Free-Electron-Based and Desktop Attosecond Sources".

The Ultrafast X International Conference aims to create an international sharing and exchange platform for academic frontier, technological innovation and industrial development in the field of ultrafast.
