The 1st Meeting of the 4th Session Academic Committee of the National Key Laboratory for Transient Optics and Photon Technology Held Smoothly

The 1st Meeting of the 4th Session Academic Committee of the National Key Laboratory for Transient Optics and Photon Technology was held smoothly in XIOPM on Jan. 8, 2016, with attendees including famous experts in China’s transient optics and photonics such as CAS academician Gong Qihuang, etc. and some key research members in the Laboratory. 

        The Meeting was chaired by Academician Gong Qihuang, member of the Academic Committee, in which the committee members heard the report “2014-2015 Work Report of National Key Laboratory for Transient Optics and Photon Technology by the Research Fellow Zhao Wei, Director of the Laboratory and academic reports on five representative research achievements. Later, the committee members conducted serious discussions about the Laboratory’s discipline construction planning and development goal, research orientation setting, research task arrangement, progress of key researches, achievement outputs, talent team construction, opening-up cooperation and academic exchange, and management and operation,etc.

The committee members unanimously thought that: the Laboratory, according to self positioning and strategic development goal, facing national major demands for development and world sci-tech development front edge, combining CAS’s “three facings” operation principle and relying on its “one-three-five” strategic development goal, strengthened discipline directions of ultrahigh time-space resolution information acquisition technology, photonic material and component core technology, and new generation photonic network core technology, etc., laying good foundation for continuous development of the Laboratory and forming “high” and “quick” characteristics and advantages in domestic and foreign academic circles. The Laboratory made remarkable progress in the national research tasks undertaken, and relevant researches went normally, made obvious progress in high-quality academic papers publishing and application for invention patents both at home and abroad, and maintained good overall development momentum. The Laboratory worked hard to overcome adverse regional and environmental impacts, emphasized close combination of discipline development and talent team construction, made significant achievements in construction of high-level research teams, keeping its talent team structure optimized and sci-tech innovation ability enhanced; attached importance to postgraduates quality education and ability training, making overall quality of postgraduates higher. The Laboratory emphasized original innovation and discipline crossing, regularly openly released and supported open topics; established “Attosecond Diagnosis Physics and Key Technology” international innovation research team, jointly built “China-UK Micro Nano Photonics” laboratory, held many domestic and international academic conferences, offered high openness and sharing level of research platform and large-sized instrument and equipment, and made significant effects in opening-up and cooperation and exchange with the outside world. The Laboratory also actively undertook social duties and accepted a large number of research practice and science popularization activities from domestic college students. It witnessed continuous development of research platforms and conditions, kept good environment, managed in standardized manner, paid attention to training of staff members and postgraduates’ research ethics and quality, and developed good style of study.

Finally, the committee members expressed their hope that the Laboratory can further give play to traditional discipline advantages, optimize discipline layout, further enhance excellent achievement summarization and extraction, and constantly enhance construction of high-level talent team, so as to make the Laboratory develop in an all-round manner and ascend to a new step once again.
