The project of "Extended Power Array Technology of Semiconductor Laser" cooperated by Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (XIOPM), CAS and Xi’an Focuslight Technologies Co., Ltd. passed technical appraisal organized by Xi’an Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences, on May 9. The appraisal was hosted by Academician Fan Dianyuan, from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, CAS.
The project successfully designed and developed an extended power array technology of semiconductor laser, based on the technologies of stacked array beam non-imaging overlay, spot control, near-field nonlinear control, thermal management, and spectral control. It achieved a combination of 24 units stacked array, continuous output power of which is up to 27kW, the power density of which is greater than 668W/cm2, and the spectral width of which is less than 3.36nm. The technology is adequate for continuous and quasi-continuous mode, different central wavelength, and the scalable stacked array, which is significant to develop high power semiconductor laser array new products.
The array developed by the project has reached the international advanced level in output power, power density, and spectral width. It has been formed production capacity and applied in the number of domestic units.
