Abstract:
This presentation will describe the procedures, methods and techniques for having your research published in SCI, peer-reviewed international journals. It will explain how to choose the most appropriate journal for your research, and discuss the importance of following the Instructions for Authors. Then the presentation will go through the writing process from defining the title of the paper, making the abstract, choosing the best key words, how to write a good introduction, the structure of the main text, aspects of the data sets you have used, explain the difference between procedures and methodology, and then discusses how to present your conclusions. The presentation will also give some suggestions on how to include tables, figures, equations into one's paper. Furthermore, comments on the use of appendices, acknowledgements, and the citing of literature references will be given. The presentation will also give some insights into the refereeing process.
Speaker Profile:
Prof. Dr. J.L. van Genderen: Professor van Genderen was born in Utrecht the Netherlands. He obtained his Bachelor degree from the University of Queensland in Australia, his Masterof Science degree in Delft, the Netherlands, and his Ph.D. at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom in 1972. Since that time, he has carried out research and consulting assignments in 140 countries all around the world. Professor van Genderen was the first European Remote Sensing Scientist to visit China during April and May of 1978, at the invitation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to advise on the setting up of a new Institute: The CAS Institute of Remote Sensing Applications in Beijing. The Institute was designed, built and ready to start work on 1st January 1980, with the late Academician Cheng Shupeng as its first Director. Since that time, he has visited China about 200 times, and carried out many research projects, training and education assignments and many consulting projects all over China. He is currently a Senior Visiting Professor in the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Centre for Earth Observation and Digital Earth in Beijing. Professor van Genderen is also an Honorary Professor at the Xi’an University of Science and Technology (since 1987), at the Wuhan University (since 1996) and at the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping in Beijing (since 2004). Currently he is the Vice-President of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences.
