Biography:

Zhao Wei, born in October 1963, has studied at the Central Laser Facility in Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (UK), the School of Physics in University of Bath (UK), and the Department of Physics in Imperial College (UK).

He is in charge of a number of State Key Scientific Research Projects. He has published more than 290 SCI papers which are cited more than 5,000 times, authorized more than 80 national invention patents, published three books. He was awarded the High-Speed-Imaging Gold Award, Science and Technology Development Award of CAS, the National Excellent Scientific and Technological Worker, Innovation Team Scientific and Technological Grand Ceremony, Chinese Science Annual Newsmaker, Meritorious Staff of China's First Lunar Exploration Project, and Outstanding Contribution Award of Chang'e-3 project.

He served as China's national representative of the International High-Speed Imaging and Photonics Committee, was the director of the High-speed Photography and Photonics Committee of Chinese Optical Society, the director of the Optical Fiber and Integrated Optics Committee of Chinese Optical Society, and the Chinese director of the Sino-Italian Joint Laboratory of Ultra-High-Speed Photonic Networks.

In November 2003, he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the XIOPM, CAS, then in April 2005, he was appointed as the Executive Deputy Director of the XIOPM (presided over the work), CAS. From March 2006 to November 2018, he was the Director of XIOPM. He is currently the Director of the Academic Committee of XIOPM, the President of the Xi'an Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the President of the Shaanxi Academy of Sciences.
