“29th International Congress on High-Speed Imaging and Photonics” was held in Morioka, Japan on September 20-24, 2010. Researcher Zhao Wei, Director of Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of CAS, was presented High-Speed-Imaging Gold Award by the congress for his outstanding contributions in the field of high-speed imaging and photonics, which is the second international award presented by “International Congress on High-Speed Imaging and Photonics” in the history of XIOPM. In 1981, Academician Gong Zutong, the founder of XIOPM, was presented “Photo-Sonics Award” by “International Congress on High-Speed Photography and Photonics”. After 29 years, Researcher Zhao Wei won High-Speed-Imaging Gold Award, which illustrates fully the achievements and international standing of XIOPM in the field of high-speed imaging and photonics.

“International Congress on High-Speed Imaging and Photonics” was originally called “International Congress on High-Speed Photography and Photonics” and was held every two years since 1952. The congress was usually held in the selected country with high academic standard in the field. XIOPM once hosted the 18th and 27th “International Congress on High-Speed Photography and Photonics” successfully in 1988 and 2006. The congress was renamed “International Congress on High-Speed Imaging and Photonics” since 2008. XIOOPM sent a delegation of 8 members led by Researcher Zhao Wei attended this congress.

During the congress, the experts and scholars conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the latest research results and application technologies in the field of High-Speed Imaging and Photonics. After 5 days’ discussion, the congress meeting was ended successfully on the afternoon Sept. 24. The congress decided that “30th International Congress on High-Speed Imaging and Photonics” will be held in South Africa in 2012.
