Research Field:
(1) Development of ultraviolet-transmitting laser glasses with high laser induced damage thresholds.
(2) Development of radiation resistant optical materials for space applications.
(3) Fundamental research on the interaction mechanism of lasers & high energy ionic radiations with optical materials.
(4) Development of mid-infrared (Mid-IR) soft glasses (tellurite, fluoride, germanate glasses and oxyfluoride glasses, etc.) for novel Mid-IR laser source.
(5) Design and fabrication technology of photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) and hollow core fibers (HCFs) .
(6) Glass, preform extrusion and fiber fabrication techniques.
Biography:
Dr. Pengfei Wang received his PhD degree in Material Science from Tianjin University in 2010. Then he joined Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Now, he works in the State Key Laboratory of Transient Optics and Photonics, Laboratory of Advanced optoelectronics and biomaterials as a research professor.

He currently leads a team of 11 postgraduate students, research assistants and technicians. In the last 5 years he has successfully supervised 6 postgraduate students.
He has published about 50 refereed journal papers and conference articles and filed 10 patents, in the fields of ultraviolet-transmitting fluorophosphate laser glasses and radiation-resistant optical glasses. He has been awarded over CNY 10 million in competitive research grants funded mainly by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP).
