The division of information photonics was established in 2001. The department has 15 permanent staff, including 1 professor, 3 associate professors and senior engineers. There are 4 doctoral/master supervisors among them.
The research fields of Information Photonics department contain polymer microstructure optics, photoelectric functional materials science, polarization optics, terahertz spectrum and application, photoelectric mixed information processing (sensing) etc. The department has achieved several products based on research results. Among them, self-focusing lens, GF-86 silver glass powder and plastic fiber are popular in the market.
The department has undertaken 1 Major Research Plan of National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC), 3 Key Program of NSFC, more than 10 General program of NSFC, 5 National High-tech R&D Program of China, 3 Knowledge Innovation Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and etc. The obtained awards include: 1 Second Class Prize of the State Scientific and Technology Progress Award; 2 Secondary Prize of Scientific and Technology Progress Award, Chinese Academy of Science ; 1 First Class Prize of Shaanxi Science and Technology Award; 1 advanced individual and advanced group award of National Major Scientific Research Task; and more than 10 invention patents.
