International Conference on Micro/Nano Optical Engineering (ICOME) will be held in Changchun, China in June, 2011. This conference, co-sponsored by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), CAS, IEEE Photonics Society, the Optical Society of America (OSA), co-organized by State Key Laboratory on Applied Optics, State Key Laboratory on Integrated Optoelectronics, National Key Laboratory of Science and Technology on Micro/Nano Fabrication, supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People's Republic of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), Chinese Society of Micro-nano Technology (CSMNT), the Optical Society of Jilin, the IEEE NTC Beijing Chapter will bring together international leading experts with top Chinese scientists, young researchers, and students working in Micro/Nano optics. Micro/Nano optical activities are rapidly growing in China, a development which has provided impetus for the launch of a new international, English-language journal entitled Light, which will be published by the Chinese Academy of Sciences starting in the early of 2012. The ICOME conference will provide support for the international launch of this journal and provide the attendees with an unique opportunity to learn about the spectrum of Chinese research in micro-and nano-optics. The ICOME conference will be an international English-language event. Presentations are by invitation only, and poster presentations are planned for other attendees. The conference will not only provide a venue for in-depth scientific discussion but also an opportunity for finding potential new project partners, new forms of scientific collaboration and funding sources. Last but it least, the event should provide a forum for young Chinese scientists and students to discuss their work with some of the leading figures in the field. We will invite the speakers to submit a paper based on their presentation for an initial issue of the new journal Light and selected poster papers will be published in Optics and Precision Engineering and Chinese Optics. We have invited 20 internationally-recognized researchers to present their newest work on various aspects of the rapidly growing micro- and nano-optics fields. With this opportunity for you to obtain an view of recent research in this area around the world, present some of your newest results, and participate in the exciting and stimulating social program we have planned for you, I hope to be able to welcome you to Changchun for ICOME in June 2011. |
