At the invitation of Zhao Wei who holds the position of president of Xi’an Branch, CAS and director of XIOPM, CAS, professor Li Deren, the academician of CAS and CAE and international famous photogrammetry and remote sensing scholar, together with professor Zhang Guo from Wuhan University visited XIOPM, CAS on Sept. 21.

The Exchange Meeting was presided over by head of Science & Technology Management Department Xie Xiaoping. Zhao Wei expressed his great welcome to Li Deren and Zhang Guo’s visit firstly. Later, Wen Desheng introduced the development history and discipline orientation of XIOPM, as well as innovation products achieved by XIOPM in recent years for the purpose of catering to major national requirements. Director of Key Laboratory of Spectral Imaging Technology Hu Bingliang gave a general profile of development on XIOPM’s interference spectral imaging technology, and made detailed introduction to application of interferometric spaceborne hyperspectral imagers represented by CE-1 satellite interference imaging spectrometer and HJ satellite interference imaging spectrometer in the field of space remote sensing.

Li Deren, Zhang Guo, XIOPM leaders and other participants exchanged their opinions. Li Deren congratulated on XIOPM for its proud achievements, pointed out that XIOPM played a unique role in many fields, hoped it to create more original results and made greater contributions to space infrastructure construction of our country. He also introduced advantages of Wuhan University in the fields of surveying and mapping, remote sensing, spatial information processing and application. As one of the leading figures in remote sensing circle, academician Li Deren paid special attention to application of domestic-made remote sensing satellite. He proposed methods which can help to promote quality of remote sensing image data and improve availability of images. Professor Zhang Guo, based on his over ten-year research and achievements, stated the importance of application-oriented system simulation technology and preprocessing technology. Both academician Li Deren and XIOPM leaders hold the opinion that XIOPM and Wuhan University are complementary in disciplines and more close communication and cooperation shall be strengthened.

In the warm applause, director Zhao Wei issued the letter of appointment to Li Deren and appointed him to be the visiting research fellow of XIOPM, CAS, Hu Bingliang appointed academician Li Deren to act as a member of Key Laboratory of Spectral Imaging Technology CAS.

After the meeting, Li Deren and Zhang Guo visited XIOPM’s Scientific Achievements Exhibition Hall and Key Laboratory of Spectral Imaging Technology.
