PhD Gao Peng Won The Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, CAS

On the morning of December 14, winners of the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation 2012 and Excellent Tutor 2012 of University of Chinese Academy of Science (hereinafter referred to UCAS) were announced and the award ceremony was held. The degree paper written by Gao Peng, a PhD graduate of XIOPM, was awarded the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, CAS 2012 and Researcher Yao Baoli, Gao Peng’s tutor, won the title Excellent Graduate Tutor, CAS.
President of CAS and Principal of UCAS Bai Chunli, Vice President of CAS Zhan Wenlong and relevant leaders of UCAS attended the ceremony and presented the awards. Director of Graduate Department, XIOPM, Li Jinfang accepted awards on behalf of the winners.

PhD Gao Peng when in college published 12 papers as the first author in a foreign journal SCI, 5 of which were selected by the optical top periodicals Optics Letters and cited about more than 60 times; he as the first inventor applied for and has been authorized 2 patents for invention; and he won the first prize of Science & Technology, Shaanxi 2010 (ranking 5th), and was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Research Scholar by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2011, Dean’s Excellent Award, CAS 2011 and Zhu Liyuehua Excellent Doctoral Student, CAS 2008. He participated in joint cultivation program for a year and a half in 2008 in Max Planck Photon Research Institute. PhD Gao Peng worked at State Key Laboratory of Transient Optics and Photonics after his graduation in 2011 and went to University of Stuttgart for two-year postdoctoral research in June 2012.
The award of the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, CAS firstly started in 2004. Its rigorous selection procedures require that the paper’s research achievement is in high level in innovation and other qualities, which is an important indicator to measure the cultivation abilities of the graduate cultivation units of CAS. The postdoctor of XIOPM Yan Shaohui once won the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, CAS in 2011.
