The list of CAS Dean’s Award 2012 and CAS Excellent Tutor was published recently. Five PhD candidates of XIOPM Mao Dong, Zhang Wenfu, Yan Qiurong, Li Xiaohui and Lu Hua won CAS Dean’s Award 2012. That five winners getting the award in the same one year has never happened in XIOPM before.
CAS Dean’s Award, set up in 1989 for graduate students cultivation units of CAS and University of Science and Technology of China, is the top prize for studying graduate students. In 2012, 40 graduate students of University of Chinese Academy of Science won CAS Dean’s Special Award and 240 graduate students won CAS Dean’s Excellent Award. Doctor Gao Limin with XIOPM won CAS Dean’s Special Award 2011 which had been never awarded to any other doctor with XIOPM before.
Meanwhile, students of XIOPM Niu Linquan, Liang Dongsheng and Zhu Ming were awarded this year’s Daheng Optics Scholarship (19 winners in total in CAS) and Wen Jia won the BHPB Scholarship (25 winners in total in CAS).
