On December 18, the award ceremony on Member’s Day of Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology was held in Xi’an. It gave commendations to winners of 5th National S & T Elite Shaanxi and excellent organizational units of National Science Day activities held by Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology 2012. Researcher Li Yingcai with XIOPM as the National S & T Elite attended the ceremony.

Researcher Li Yingcai is one of the academic leaders of XIOPM engaged in space optics. Leading his scientific group, he has achieved many spectacular results and is highly praised by the state and CAS. In 2009, his scientific group was awarded the honorably title “National Advanced Group with Professional and Technical Talents” and he was named Outstanding Contributor of Outstanding Technology Achievement Award, CAS in 2011.
The award National S & T Elite, S & T workers-oriented, was set up in 1997 by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). Since 2010, the elections are held twice a year, choosing no more than 1,000 winners from the basic-level and front-line S & T workers engaged in every field of our country. The title “National S & T Elite” as a lifelong honor is a one-off award for the winners. 973 winners were elected this year, together with ten Top Ten National S & T Elite and 45 Nomination Prize of Top Ten National S & T Elite, among which 20 persons of Shaanxi won the honorable title “National S & T Elite” and one person won the Nomination Prize of Top Ten National S & T Elite.
