ABSTRACT

Silicon photonics have been investigated broadly and become a hot topic in recent years based on the expectation that it will provide an efficient solution for the “electrical interconnection bottleneck” of CMOS devices. Some important components such as high-speed modulator and detector have already been realized, while a silicon based or silicon-compatible light source have not been developed yet. Er silicates (Er2SiO5, Er2Si2O7) have been attracting considerable attentions as materials for new light source and optical amplifier at ~1.5mm in silicon photonics. We fabricated the Er silicates films with good structural and optical properties by sol-gel method and magnetron sputtering. Now, we are devoted into the design and fabrication of the Er silicates optical waveguide and laser for silicon photonics.

BIOGRAPHY

Xingjun Wang received the B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the Dalian University of Technology, China in 1999, 2002 and 2005, respectively. From 2005.4 to 2007.4, he was a post doctoral researcher in Nanoscale Physics and Devices Laboratory, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to study one-dimensional nanomaterials. From 2007.4 to 2009.4, he was a JSPS postdoctoral follow in Department of Electronic Engineering, University of Electro-Communications, Japan. His area of research interests includes fabrication and evaluation of Er-doped 1.53mm optical waveguides amplifier and laser for Si photonics. From 2009.1 up to now, he is anAssociate Professor in School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University, China. Now he is devoted into the light source and amplifier for Si photonics. He has published more than 40 papers on international journals: Advanced Materials, Applied Physics Letter, Journal of Applied Physics,IEEE Photonics Technology Letters etc. The 20 international and civil oral proceedings were present. Three patents have been authorized. Citations is over 120.
