"The Seventh National Photonics Conference" was held in Changchun, Jilin Province from July 11 to 16, 2010, which is hosted byFiber Optics and Integrated Optics Professional Committee of Chinese Optical Society and High Speed Photography and Photonics Professional Committee of Chinese Optical Society (both of which are affiliated to Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of CAS), and organized by State Key Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics, College of Electronic Science and Engineering of Jilin University and State Key Laboratory of Transient Optics and Photonics of XIOPM.　

Hou Xun, Academician of XIOPM, was the chairman of the Conference. More than 160 experts and scholars from the universities around the country, research institutes and enterprises participated in this event. A total of 12 representatives of XIOPM attended this Conference. Eight reports were exchanged during the conference.

The conference has received 150 research papers, and more than 40 domestic famous scholars were invited to make the reports. Researcher Zhao Wei made a report on "Frontier Research Progress in Photonics of XIOPM", and Professor Sun Hongbo did it on "Research Progressed in Micro-nanofabrication Based on Ultrafast Photonic Technology and Ultrafast Spectroscopy". During the group session, academic discussions were focused on the following six topics: "Integrated Micro-Na Photonics and Related Technologies", "Photonic Functional Materials and Information Photonics Technology", "Transient and High-speed Photonics", "Energy Photon Technology Development", "Sensing Technology, Bio-photonics Technology and Application", and "Other Semiconductor Optoelectronic Devices and Technology".

During the Conference, Fiber Optics and Integrated Optics Professional Committee and High Speed Photography and Photonics Professional Committee held respectively professional committee meetings to determine the time and organizers of the next meetings.
