On April 23, the 2019 Spring School on International Student Frontier and Interdisciplinary Sciences, sponsored by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), with the help of Xi'an Institute of Optics and Mechanics (XIOPM), Institute of Earth Environment (IEE), and Soil and Water Conservation Institute (ISWC), officially opened in XIOPM. Forty-three international students from 31 institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who come from 12 countries, were selected for the spring school.
The Spring School is a breakthrough program after spring school and summer school. The Spring School will focus on pertinence, crossover of subjects and scientific- educational integration and university-institute integration mode, building an extraordinary scientific-educational integration center with institutes of CAS. The IC-UCAS aims to make fully use of the advantages of scientific-educational resource of CAS, accelerate the internationalization of CAS and UCAS, and create an international academic atmosphere and processing the education of international students. The guiding principle of IC-UCAS is “unified enrollment, education management and degree conferment; faculty-institute’s fusion on leadership, faculty, management and cultivating system”.
With the concept of “Internationalization, Openness, Comprehensiveness and Perceptiveness”, International College will strive to become a unique and world renewed college.
2019 Spring School was co-held by Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of CAS (XIOPM), Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ISWC) and Institute of Earth Environment (IEE) in Xi’an, which is the start point of the Silk Road Economic Belt from April 22th to 27th 2019. Most honored professors from institutes of CAS will present students the cutting-edge theories and research methods concerning photoelectric science, information science, agriculture and forestry, ecology and environmental science, earth science.
Ma Caiwen (secretary of the Party Committee of XIOPM and deputy director (work leader)), Xu Mingxiang (Deputy Director of the ISWC), Xie Yong (Director of the International Cooperation Department of the National Science and Technology Department) and Chen Feng (Director of the International Office Comprehensive Office) attended the opening ceremony, and Chen Feng presided the opening ceremony.
Our institute’s tutors Yao Baoli, Zeng Jianhua, Wang Xing, were invited to make academic reports on the research progress and hotspots of the State Key Laboratory of Transient Optics and Photonics. This event will also organize international students to visit the State Key Laboratory of Transient Optics and Photonics, “Nineth Universe” Science Practice Base, the Earth Environment Institute, and the Soil and Water Conservation Institute. Participants will experience a five-days learning and communication practices.
The success of this event will play a positive role in promoting the internationalization of postgraduate education and creating a diversified international academic atmosphere. (From Personnel and Education Division)
