Research Fellow Yan Pingkun Makes Report at "15th National Conference on Image and Graphics"
"15th National Conference on Image and Graphics" was held in Guangzhou, from Dec. 10 to 12. Yan Pingkun, research fellow at Optical Image Analysis and Learning Center, XIOPM, was invited to make a report entitled "Model-based Image Segmentation and Its Medical Applications" during the conference.
In the report, Yan Pingkun mainly introduced the research hotspot and difficulty in medical image processing and analysis--Image Segmentation, and showed a series of new model-based image segmentation, such as semi-automatic MRI segmentation and automatic real-time ultrasound image sequence segmentation. This technology has been integrated into the image navigation prostate biopsy sampling system, which is used in clinical trial in National Institutes of Health (NIH). More than 200 cases have achieved good results.
National Conference on Image and Graphics (NCIG) is the highest level domestic conference sponsored by China Society of Image and Graphics, which is held every two years. Now there are four research fellows working at the organization from Optical Image Analysis and Learning Center, XIOPM. It is reported that next year International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG) will be held in Anhui Provence sponsored by China Society of Image and Graphics and co-sponsored by XIOPM.
