International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) published 67 newly-elected fellows in 2011 in Jan. Research fellow Li Xuelong from XIOPM was elected as International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) Fellow.
International Society for Optical Engineering was established in 1955, which is a well-known non-profit professional society working at the exchange, collection, dissemination and application of the knowledge in optics, photonics, optoelectronics, imaging and image processing. One of the main tasks of SPIE is to provide information, education products and services for fellows and international engineering science community, provide a platform for optical and photonic communication and interaction with other fields, and organize conferences and educational programs for emerging technologies.
SPIE holds several academic conferences every year and the formation of conference papers reflects the latest progresses and developments in corresponding fields with a high academic value, which have become the great important and welcomed information source in the field of optics and its applications. It is an internationally renowned publication of conference papers.
SPIE Fellows are ones who make great research achievements in optics, photonics, imaging technology and other interdisciplinary fields, and make outstanding contributions to optics especially SPIE. SPIE affirms and recognizes their achievements in the field of optics with the title of "SPIE Fellow". Since the establishment of SPIE in 1955, a total of over 900 members have been elected as SPIE Fellow.
