XIOPM is one of the units in China that firstly has the right to grant master and doctoral degrees and is the post-doctoral research center. By now there are 2 academicians of China Academy of Science and 2 academicians of China Academy of Engineering.
XIOPM is the main research base in China's optical technologies and systems. In recent years, XIOPM had assumed China's major projects, such as "Manned Space", "Lunar Exploration", etc. and other major research tasks, such as national 863 plans, 973 plans, the National Natural Science Foundation, etc. XIOPM creates good conditions for learning and research environment for graduate students in pioneering their innovative vision, conducting innovative research and training their solution of practical problems in science and engineering technologies. Students who is involved in continuous academic program of postgraduate and doctoral study and doctoral students will be preferred to send abroad for joint training.
Postgraduates can receive basic grants, grade scholarships, three assistant awards and various types of titled scholarship of CAS. Doctoral students will receive scholarships of ￥1600-3600 Yuan per month.
XIOPM is expected to recruit 34 doctoral students in 2011 and 7 ones (first supervisor) co-cultured by Xi'an Jiaotong University. The actual recruitment quota is assigned by the State plan. The students who apply for the co-culture should select the appropriate research supervisors. There is only one fall time enrollment throughout the year, including continuous academic program of postgraduate and doctoral study and open recruitment, among which continuous academic program of postgraduate and doctoral study will be about 50-70% of total enrollment.
